The work of Alvin Lustig is classic, so timeless, and heavily rooted in the American culture of his time. The modernists and color field painters, among other cultural movements of the '30s, 40s and '50s, strongly influenced his style. From magazines, books, advertisements and record covers to a helicopter designed for Rotoron, Lustig's work covered all aspects of communication formats, of which he was known as a master at each.
Lustig unfortunately passed away in 1955 at the age of 40, but he leaves behind a body of work more magnificant and influential than most designers of significantly longer careers. Had he not died from Diabetes, he was planning on moving to Israel, where he felt design could have a strong positive impact on such an infant state.
