Scott and I got married. Our three-day Labor Day weekend celebration was put together entirely by us, close family and incredible friends. We didn't hire a caterer, florist, wedding planner, or any of the other professionals one comes to expect with a contemporary wedding – we were incredibly fortunate to come from a talented bunch, making everything that much more special. From the flowers that came entirely from my aunt's garden to the cake my mom decorated, my dress that was designed by a family friend to the invitation suite I designed, everyone brought their own expertise to the table. It was a true DIY wedding, but was worth a million bucks. Above are a few of my favorite images from the weekend, taken by a close family friend.

oh what pretty images - I love the colours and the feel of your wedding!
I'm totally of the opinion that diy weddings are better anyway - especially when they look as extremely freaking amazing as yours does! A few of my favorite details I can see in the pictures - the logs holding up the cake, the plaid bow tie, your shoes, the woodsy location, the books used to show the table numbers, the pile of bottles which are totally evidence of merry making, the flowers.... okay. i'll stop, because I'm basically naming everything, but SERIOUSLY. It looks like it was so awesome. I hope that when I get married someday I have a wedding that is equally as stupendous!
t-h-a-n-k you girls, it felt like a fairy tale:)
mallory - thanks for picking up on all the little details - labors of love... i'm sure you will have a wonderful wedding one day!!

Jane... magic :) And just the thing to perk up a rainy Monday morning in DC! Love your latest collages, too. So glad you're back and posting!
Stunning! I'm blown away! I'm guessing the table numbers were your touch too?;)
Dear Jane, you had me at plaid bow tie!!! Your wedding looks absolutely gorgeous! Every photo, every little detail, is amazing. I mean, books for table numbers? LOVE. Congratulations again!!
Jane, the shot of your skirt at the bottom is just to die! What are those colors? And the croquet set, and the lake, and that cake and.... it all just takes my breath away!
Simply stunning. I love every bit of it. I think it so wonderful that everyone came together to help make the event happen!! I love all the DIY touches.
I just realized I didn't comment yesterday. I kept coming back and looking at these gorgeous photos but I never left a super-gushy comment. Your wedding was beautiful, Jane. I really love how you decided to keep it small and do so much yourself. The cake your mom made was amazing. And flowers from your aunt's garden? Sigh...it all sounds like it was perfect. And I'm sure it was for you.
I love every single little tiny detail, as I knew I would, after having gotten to know you and your incredible talent.
The fact that it was entirely DIY, and that you were surrounded by such wonderful support and talent, makes it that much more beautiful and inspiring:).
It looks like your wedding was absolute perfection! I am SO impressed by your flowers and cake...wish I knew such talented people!
Jane - this is amazing! Honestly every detail is so beautiful, I want more pictures. And what a gorgeous setting, I want to pack up and live in the Adirondacks.
Oh the table numbers in books are fantastic. If I was planning a wedding I'd steal that idea. Love the flowers and the cake. Enjoy the memories....
Oh wow Jane, what a beautiful wedding!! And I can't believe you all did it yourselves - the cake, the flowers, the setting is just perfect. Plus I love that it makes it so special that things were created by friends and family - how lovely!!
Love the images! I can't wait to hear more about how you put it all together. I'm using profesionals, but prety much because I have to due to my venue. which is okay with me. I'm really hands on so that helps. Are you going to share you DIY projects with us?! and you have to share with me your dress. I know a friend of yours made it!
