novella love

A great novella is a terrific find indeed! Melville House Publishing compiled this list of their top twelve classic novellas – a handful of my favorite authors just so happen to be on the list. I'd love to know, what are your favorite classic or contemporary novellas?

The Man Who Would Be King is my definite favorite! I was assigned to read it in a Victorian lit class in college, expecting it to be torturous. I was so enthralled from the first page, I ended up writing a thesis on it!

I don't know how, but a lot of these titles sound completely unfamiliar. I've already bookmarked the page and I'm going to have to check these books out!
I'm currently reading Little Women and I'm loving it! I recently read Jane Eyre which was fantastic! Love the Jane Austen books I've read aaand... those are all the "classic" books that are coming to mind at this late hour for me, ha!

I'm so pleased you like the image I created with the twelve classic novellas. The Death of Ivan Ilych is my favorite and I'm adding some of the others to my long list of books to read. Thanks again!

May Day is one of my all-time favorites, and I adore Colette's novellas-ah, the dreamy shorter novel!

I'm not sure if this is considered a novella but I am reading Somewhere Inside by Lisa and Laura Ling. It is by far one of the most inspiring books I've ever read.

I couldn't put down the 435 pages of David Nicholls' ONE DAY for the past 48 hours. It is entirely absorbing, an extraordinary love story, and I highly recommend it, my friend. xo Lola

I love this list, reminds me of college too and is perfect for revisiting in the winter months in Chicago. I nominated for a little blog award...http://wherethesidewalkbegins.blogspot.com/2011/01/blogger-award.html

What a fabulous list! I am always looking for a good book recommendation from an alternative list! Tired of all those NY Times Bestsellers...

Right now reading Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar and it is quite fascinating and an interesting look into that time period.
