springtime in New York

The changing of the seasons is always energizing, showing familiar places in a new light. I'm looking forward to restaurants reopening sidewalk seating, the boat pond in central park, working with the windows wide open, and throwing extra bedding into hiding.

I have been snatching up ranunculas, hyacinths, and tulips, and instagramming my finds along the way. My favorite spots for flowers in Manhattan are the flower district (around 6th Ave & 28th Street) and the Union Square farmers' market. Here's to a happy, flower-filled spring!

hello, friday!

Our move went smoothly and I'm so excited to unpack, paint, wallpaper, and decorate this place! But first, our little matchbook team is busy at work wrapping up the August issue (coming out Monday)!
Have a wonderful weekend :)

ensemble...

We spent Saturday packing (in brown boxes not nearly as glamorous as this J.Crew number, sigh), savoring our second to last weekend of country living (so bittersweet), and brainstorming design ideas for the new apt. I picked up materials to make cornice boxes for the windows, following an online tutorial of course – I'm excited to pick out the fabric for them and the curtains next time I'm in the garment district. Here are a few other items I have my eye on:

Gorgeous NY calligraphy print – a must-have for my new office area / new keys call for a new key fob / classic striped dress / belt / wrist watch / earrings / belgian loafers / pink panama notebook / the perfect suitcase / and as always, I'll take New York rain or shine...

PS. All cornice-making tips are welcome :)

ensemble...

Scott and I signed the lease on our new apartment today and I'm so excited to call Central Park my neighbor! I didn't want to jinx things til it was officially inked on the dotted line, but I'm so smitten with our cute little place. It's a few short tree-lined blocks from the Met and the toy boat pond (two of my absolute favorite places since childhood!), and all the shops and eateries you could want. I'm already daydreaming of peddling my bike around the park in the fall and popping over for lunchtime picnics with Zelda... figured this colorful ensemble would do the trick :)

I grew up in Manhattan, going to school in Greenwich Village, and have lived in various spots on the west side as well as on the lower east side, but never uptown. So... if you're a local I'd love to hear tips and recommendations! I'm so excited to explore my new neighborhood in my old city. xo
