ten ways to ease into the holiday season

As I head out to my first holiday party of the season tonight, there's no denying that though it's only November 12th and feels like a sultry spring day, mistletoe and hot toddies are just around the corner...
Here's 10 ways to ease into the coziest time of year:

1/ Add a touch of holiday to your decor with this double-happiness ornament
2/ Brighten your walls with prints from Katie Armour's beautiful new Buddy Editions
3/ Wrap yourself in this men's cashmere buffalo check scarf
4/ Knits. Knits. Knits.
5/ Make an understated pop of sparkle your wintertime day-to-night essential
6/ Treat yourself (and monogram it!)
7/  Remember that it's the little things that count... looking at you, pinky ring
8/ More time lounging inside (with a book by the fire, hopefully) means an excuse to shop for throw pillows
9/ Challenge your fam to a classic bout of bananagrams
10/ Update the classics with this chic black + brown pair of duck boots

Crushing on Colorful Coats

I have been swooning over the sea of colorful coats and jackets dotting the NYFW landscape this week. In a city known for black on black ensembles, it's a trend that I'm delighted to embrace! It's hard to feel down sporting my J.Crew Sabrina Double Cloth coat about town. Here are a few other favorites I'm looking to shop...

hello, february

coral throw / cashmere hoodie / marni perfume / daylily romper / "miles apart but close to the heart" cards / pilgrim lake painting / rosa mundi candle / pillow / new balance 620 sneakers for j.crew / what would audrey do / card case

Tom Robbins writes in Jitterbug Perfume
“The only bubble in the flat champagne of February is Valentine’s Day. It was no accident that our ancestors pinned Valentine’s Day on February’s shirt: he or she lucky enough to have a lover in frigid, antsy February has cause for celebration, indeed.”

But this year February also plays host to the Olympics (mark your calendar for the opening ceremony on Feb 6th), House of Cards season 2 debuts Feb 14th (catch up on season 1!), and New York Fashion Week rears its head (actually looking forward to seeing some crisp fall looks after this polar vortex). Seems like this little month will pack quite a punch! These are my picks for cozy and colorful staples to make the most of it.
